Job Summary

The Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE) at the University of Michigan College of Engineering is seeking applications for a Lecturer to teach a Lean Manufacturing and Services course in engineering during the Winter 2025 semester.

Responsibilities*

Teach a course on the review of philosophies, systems, and practices utilized by world-class manufacturers and service organizations focusing on lean management, including material and information flow, in-process quality assurance, standardized work, continuous improvement, visual management and lean leadership. Practical examples and in-class exercises bring concepts to life.

The lecturer has responsibility for teaching the courses as outlined and is expected to attend course meetings, hold office hours, and handle routine matters related to instruction. College of Engineering courses are held in-person on the Ann Arbor campus.

Additional Information

This position is posted for the Winter 2025 term at 20% effort (8 hours per week).

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
