Job Description:

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Plan, supervise, and evaluate student experience in the clinical areas, communicate/ coordinate activities with other members of the course teaching team.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan student clinical experiences in conjunction with the course teaching team.
  • Communicate plan and student learning objectives to appropriate agency staff.
  • Provide clinical supervision and guidance for nursing students.
  • Evaluate student progress toward the achievement of learning objectives.
  • Provide opportunities for students to receive feedback on their progress and assist students with identified areas of concern.
  • Conduct pre and post-conference in the clinical area.
  • Attend and contribute to course planning/coordinating meetings.
  • Attend Nursing Faculty and Program/Curriculum meetings.
  • Select and post student clinical assignments the day before the experience.
  • Attend and contribute to end of semester agency conference.

 


Requirements:

Education

A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.  A Master's Degree in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing Education is preferred.  (BSN with Enrollment in a Master's program in Nursing will also be considered.).

Experience

Two years of clinical experience in the appropriate practice setting is required.  Must have NYS RN licensure.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong clinical skills in the appropriate practice area.

Ability to work effectively with community college students, clinical agency staff, college staff and faculty colleagues.

Demonstrates respect for individuality and diverse cultural, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time instructor position.  Nursing courses offered include Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Maternal-Newborn and Pediatric Nursing.  Applications are continuously accepted and reviewed throughout the academic year.
