Assistant Director of Financial Aid Compliance and Systems
Job Description
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid Compliance and Systems reports to the Director of Financial Aid while providing critical technical support and oversight to ensure the accurate awarding, auditing, and reconciliation of financial aid awards in alignment with federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Oversee Banner financial aid module, Argos, and Perceptive Content systems; manage electronic file maintenance, system parameters, and annual rollovers.
- Develop and modify Argos reports, queries, and automated system features to improve efficiency; program packaging models.
- Supervise financial aid coordinators, fostering team collaboration, providing guidance, and ensuring alignment with departmental goals.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for compliance with Federal Title IV, Veterans Affairs, state, and institutional regulations.
- Establish quality control rules and internal audit processes to monitor financial aid accuracy and timeliness; coordinate data requests for audits and compliance inquiries.
- Evaluate, test, and implement system updates, patches, and regulatory changes; troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues.
- Provide training on technology and regulatory changes; maintain comprehensive documentation, including policies, procedures, and user guides.
- Assist with mandatory reporting (e.g., IPEDS, FISAP, Gainful Employment, Veterans Affairs) and represent the Financial Aid Office in meetings and committees.
- Facilitate cross-departmental communication to enhance data flow and process alignment across units.
- Stay current with financial aid regulations and best practices through training, webinars, forums, and professional association participation.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Federal Title IV, state, and institutional financial aid regulations.
- Proficiency in data management, reporting, and compliance monitoring.
- Ability to manage a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and other general office equipment.
- Ability to learn new computer software.
- Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Required Qualifications
- This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Must have three to five years of experience in financial aid.
- Experience with financial aid systems, including Banner, Argos, and Perceptive Content.

- Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.

- Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
