Non profit Director of Operations
We are seeking applicants for the position of a full-time Director of Operations.Candidates should have a strong background in nonprofit management, grants and fundraising and administration. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Operations is responsible for UH daily operations, including programming, staffing and donor relations

Daily Operations
Oversee the day-to-day operations of Unlikely Heroes Inc, a successful anti-trafficking nonprofit founded in 2011 and headquartered in Dallas, TX.
Oversee compliance with federal, state, and local laws applicable to Unlikely Heroes.
Oversee the hiring, on-boarding/off-boarding, new employee training, and the annual employee review process. Maintain the employee benefits program and continue to enhance as the budget allows. Ensure the Unlikely Heroes Human Resources Manual is kept up-to-date and followed, ensuring compliance with HR-related laws and regulations.
Directly supervise staff members. Engage with each staff member on a routine basis to monitor activities and priorities. Resolve issues or escalate to the board, as appropriate.
Meet regularly with the Unlikely Heroes team to foster a workplace environment and culture that is inspiring and supportive of both the staff and the mission. Meet and communicate regularly with all staff to ensure consistency in messaging and foster a cooperative team dynamic.
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and directs employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff to achieve goals.
Oversee marketing, communications, public relations efforts to help build the UnlikelyHeroes’ brand and maintain and enhance UH’s image.
Organization Mission and Strategic Leadership
Responsible for the successful implementation of Unlikely Heroes’ programs that carry out the organization’s mission. Assist the team with programmatic reporting as needed.
Work with the staff and board to ensure that the organization’s mission is clearly communicated and understood by all. Ensure all staff members understand their role in achieving the mission.
Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that Unlikely Heroes can successfully fulfill and continue to advance its mission.
Responsible for the continued enhancement of Unlikely Heroes’ image and reputation by being active and visible in the community and by ensuring the organization is working closely with other professionals, government entities, and private organizations.
Financial Performance and Viability
Oversee resources to ensure the financial health and fiscal integrity of the organization.
Monitor, provide guidance and approve the internal finances of the organization, including the organizational budget, expenses, and major development activities.
Engage personally with major donors and other key grant contacts as needed to ensure continued renewals/increases in funding.
Responsible for submitting to the board a proposed annual budget and quarterly financial statements which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
Ensure all finance and budget-related issues or changes are reported to the board on time
Work closely with the CEO to increase sources of revenue and cultivate and maintain major donors.
Develop partnerships with company stakeholders, shareholders, and other relevant parties with the goal of procuring sponsorships
Identify potential risks and opportunities within the organization and its environment to protect business interests.
Identify potential sources of investment and improve fundraising efforts to obtain higher return.
Represent the company at social and corporate events in ways that strengthen the brand and communicate the company’s message.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Needed:
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Senior/Executive level Operational management experience required. Senior/Executive level Development/Fundraising/Marketing management experience required. Crisis management experience is a plus. Demonstrated experience with fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector. Solid, hands-on, budgeting skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting. Ability to convey a vision of Unlikely Heroes’ strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, and donors.
Transparent, high integrity, and visionary leadership. High-level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers, and donors.
Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors.
Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers, and the overall community.
Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
Demonstrated cultural competency in working with a diverse population.
Experience and knowledge of issues of human trafficking, commercial sexual exploitation of children, gender-based violence, and/or proven experience with trauma.
Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence, including funders, partner agencies, and volunteers.
Solid organizational abilities, including planning, prioritizing, delegating, and task facilitation.
Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making, and reporting, and a demonstrated history of successful financial results.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
Above-average computer software competency (Microsoft Office, Google Suites, Excel,Zoom).
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and materials with discretion.
