Job Description

This position will be providing float coverage for inpatient adults on both the Hillcrest and La Jolla Campuses. The Dietitian will be cross-trained to cover multiple service teams and will provide medical nutrition therapy for moderate to high-risk patients in medical-surgical and critical care units. Under supervision of the Clinical Nutrition Manager, the dietitian assesses nutrition needs, collaborates with healthcare team to provide nutrition support (enteral and parenteral) recommendations, provides education to patients and staff, and collaborates with outpatient team to facilitate timely discharge and transition of care to outpatient services. The dietitian will develop, implement and record the nutrition care plan in the EHR for all assigned patients. Continuously evaluates and monitors the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy intervention. Participates in department's special projects, performance improvement activities, and research. Provides nutrition lectures and in-services to nutrition and medical staff as assigned. Mentors dietetic interns/residents/students. Actively assesses, evaluates, and maintains professional development and competency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Dietitians must possess the equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in Foods and Nutrition/Dietetics and have completed an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics internship.
- Must be a Registered Dietitian (RD).
- Two (2) years experience in comparable acuity level and experience with nutrition support.
- Applicants for positions in the Dietitian series are expected to possess the experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Masters or 10 CPEU/year.
- CNSC certification.
- Two (2) years experience in an inpatient setting.
- Demonstrated experience using EPIC.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $80,883 - $106,759 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $38.74 - $51.13
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
