Course Description
The Department of Sociology is seeking to hire GSIs for the Winter 2025 term. Fraction appointments will range from .25 to .50. Please see the course guide for discussion times and
locations. Placements will not be finalized until mid/late November, and offer-letters will be sent out around that time.

Responsibilities*
Responsible for teaching discussion sections, holding office hours, administering exams and grading. Attend lectures and assist instructor in preparing course materials.
Required Qualifications*
To be considered for this position, you must be a University of Michigan graduate student in good standing, taking at least 6 credit hours in the term you are applying for.
Desired Qualifications*
LSA student enrolled in a graduate program.
Modes of Work

Decision Making Process
Applications are reviewed and positions are assigned by the Undergraduate Office, in consultation with the Undergraduate Director. Considerations include academic qualifications and prior teaching experience, as well as course preference. The Sociology Department will make reasonable effort to extend offers within 3 weeks after the application due date. If offered a GSI position, the deadline to respond to offer letters is one week from the distribution date of the letter. Applicants may request the status of their application from the Sociology Department.
