DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director of the Construction Projects Department within the Facilities Division, the Senior Project Manager (PM) is accountable to deliver capital and non-capital projects on schedule and within the established budget while managing the scope of the project in support of UCSD Health's mission, core values, and strategic plan. The Senior Project Manager simultaneously organizes, plans, and controls the design, construction, and completion of multiple projects simultaneously. Types of projects include renovations, expansions and infrastructure, with many projects in OSHPD 1 facilities in an academic medical center setting.

An ideal candidate has experience successfully applying traditional project management theories and concepts, a firm understanding of the healthcare environment, preferably in an academic medical center setting, excellent communication at all levels of the organization, and ability to collaborate across various functions and UCSD Health divisions to achieve project and organizational objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, business, healthcare administration or related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training.
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, and regulations governing planning, building design and construction, including but not limited to, TJC, HCAI, NFPA and CDPH requirements.
  • Experience and knowledge of building and construction, design, engineered systems, construction contract administration and California Building Codes, including advanced understanding of industry practices.
  • Advanced financial skills to prepare, monitor and manage detailed project budgets, evaluate cost estimates, and review payment requests.
  • Familiarity with design and construction contracts, contract law, public contracting code, and construction claims procedures.
  • Advanced project management skills to effectively manage highly complex, multiphase projects or specialized critical project components within an occupied academic medical center.
  • Proven project management success in organizing work effectively and to meet given budgets and timeframes while working under pressure and to remain flexible in an environment with changing demands and priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to lead and work collaboratively and effectively with multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams, and with executives, providers, and staff at all levels; experience facilitating integration and collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced skill managing contractors ensuring compliance with work scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and project management software skills.
  • Working knowledge of CAD drawing programs and architectural design application programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Five (5+) or more years of experience in construction project management and/or supervision.
  • OSHPD 1 Construction experience.
  • Experience working in an academic medical center setting.
  • Familiarity with the UCOP Facilities manual, policies, and procedures.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $104,900 - $198,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $50.24 - $95.26

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
