Course Description

PubHlth 501: Developing Public Health Solutions is an interdisciplinary, team-taught course in the MPH core curriculum. This course utilizes an integrated and project-based learning approach to develop solutions to pressing public health issues.

In this course, students will build on their fall semester investigation of a health condition to develop public health solutions. They will map contributing factors, assess community needs, plan programs, and analyze policy. Key assignments include a systems diagram, program plan, advocacy plan, policy brief, and an interprofessional interview. While students previously submitted work individually within cooperative base groups, this semester will continue using these groups for individual assignments and introduce a group project.

Decision Making Process

Applicants will be ranked by the MPH core lead team based on the quality of the application, requirements/qualifications, and demonstrated interest/passion.

Selection Process

A faculty member from each hiring department will review the highest-ranked applicants and determine who to interview and/or proceed to hire.

This position received approximately 60 applications in the fall semester.
