HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Director of Content Development & Production is responsible for developing and executing content marketing strategies supporting the organization's mission of global conservation while achieving attendance and revenue targets for the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park. This involves working closely with a range of internal stakeholders, creating content to reach and motivate key target audiences, and overseeing the organization's content-related KPIs. This position reports to the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Lead the direction, planning and implementation of innovative content strategies for San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance including oversight and performance management for a large content development and production team in accordance with brand standards.
  • Oversee content change teams publications (Journal), Podcasting, Publishing (Children's books), Show content integration (NatGeo, Netflix, etc.), Kids Television Channel (Hospital network, etc.).
  • Work cross-functionally across the organization (Creative Services, digital, social, PR, Sales, Promotion. Partnerships, etc.) to ensure brand and messaging alignment, as well as necessary information is effectively disseminated.
  • Generate and foster new content opportunities to increase reach and strengthen engagement across SDZWA's content, including identifying, drafting, and integrating lead generation tools.
  • Set content KPI's, track growth, and analyze campaign impact.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a candidate who can act as an editor in chief developing and providing key themes and points of view for our various content channels (i.e., Journal Publication, Podcasting, New Books/Publishing, New Broadcast Show, etc.) as well as overseeing internal content production team.

JOB EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years of experience in the field of communications, including at least four years of content marketing experience and experience creating content for external audiences is required.
  • Experience in SEO in relation to content strategy required.
  • Management experience preferred.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate interpersonal situations with a high level of tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines.
  • Strategic thinking with experience developing successful content and engagement opportunities.
  • Motivated self-starter capable of working independently as well as effectively within a large, diverse team.
  • High level of professionalism with the ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong working knowledge and passion for data and analytics and comfortable making data driver recommendations and decisions.
  • Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Able to operate moderately complex computer software programs.

  • Salary Range: $114,800 to $126,920
