Under the administrative supervision of designated supervisor, advise and counsel students in relation to academic programs; Design and administer appropriate programs, services, and activities that assist students with academic planning; Coordinate COLSA orientation processes; assist with and/or conduct recruiting initiatives and represent the COLSA Dean’s Office in several academic/student related activities.

Other minimum qualifications

Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, or related student service area; 3-5 years of experience in academic counseling or related experience; strong interpersonal skills and communication techniques; Ability to work in a collaborative team environment; Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects; Experience in a university advising office.

Duty/Responsibility

In collaboration with the Advising Director, support college in various events and student programming efforts, including Freshmen and Transfer Orientations

Working with the First Year Programs Coordinator and Advising Director, collaborate on Freshmen Seminars, Peer Mentoring programs, Residential Learning Communities and other First Year programming activities

Create, implement and evaluate admissions, recruitment and Orientation events; educate admissions staff on programs, curriculum and facilities in the college

Serve as mentor and provide leadership to Academic Advising staff

Duty/Responsibility

Provide academic advising and support to COLSA students, and students exploring COLSA majors

Assist students in identifying long term goals and career plans

Explain academic policies, procedures, and curriculum to students to meet their educational goals and ensure timely graduation

Assess student needs and make referrals to university supports and resources

Ensure confidentiality, document and maintain appropriate student records and student interactions

Duty/Responsibility

Develop, coordinate and present academic advising and planning workshops

Work with Advising Director to identify students at risk of academic action; perform outreach to students with academic alerts, working with them to identify and resolve obstacles to academic success
