Graduate Student Professional Development Programs Intern

Job Description

GRADUATE STUDENT PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS INTERN, Career Advising and Professional Development (CAPD)(part-time, 8-10 hrs/wk.), to administer the application cycle for certificate programs.  Will coordinate the admissions process and organize application review sessions; manage calibration of application evaluation to ensure consistency and fairness; confirm acceptance of admission and manage the wait list, ensuring quick responses to applicant inquiries; facilitate arrangements for certificate sessions; collaborate with the Graduate Professional Development team to secure and manage speakers and workshop facilitators, ensuring smooth payment, travel logistics, welcome, and aid on campus; track participant progress in each certificate program; assist with program assessments and data reporting; create and coordinate communications about the certificate programs; contribute to the overall mission of the Grad PD team by supporting its events and signature programs; collaborate on generating new ideas for program growth and service; employ culturally adaptive practices and provide excellence in service to MIT's diverse and multinational student, postdoc, and alumni population; and contribute to an inclusive work environment. 

CAPD is a hub for students, postdocs, and alumni to explore and prepare for jobs, internships, fellowships, and medical or graduate school.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills; self-motivation; and familiarity with common software, e.g., Dropbox, Microsoft Office, and Google Docs.  Must be able to engage in multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; approach problems with flexibility and complete tasks independently; listen carefully and communicate tactfully; and collaborate and build effective relationships with a broad range of constituents, including students, faculty, administrators, and external constituents.  May be working toward a graduate degree or in career transition.  PREFERRED:  familiarity with Airtable and Evernote.  Job #24187-1

Pay rate:  $20.00 – 24.00/hour

Will work eight to ten hours a week.  A hybrid schedule is available based on program timelines.

The start date will be in mid-August 2024 and the position will continue until June 2025.
