Southern Wesleyan University’s (SWU) Benson School of Business and Social Sciences invites applications for adjunct positions in business-related areas for our traditional on campus and SWU online programs. Courses are pre-built in a 7- or 14-week format and delivered on campus or 100% online through our Learning Management System (LMS), Canvas.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Benson School of Business and Social Sciences at SWU provides undergraduate and graduate degrees in business. The Bachelor of Business Administration degree includes concentrations in Economics and Finance, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing and Supply-Chain Management. Additional minors are offered in Accounting and Financial Planning. The vision for the Business Department is that it will be the educator of choice for innovative Christian business education in the markets we serve.

To be considered for employment, applicants must complete an application for employment and provide written responses giving evidence of a Christian testimony and how faith and learning are integrated into the applicant's teaching.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
- The adjunct instructor will utilize the Canvas online learning management system for instruction, and will need to be able to schedule at least one office hour each week using any video conferencing modality.
- The instructor will also need to respond to questions via e-mail or telephone, usually within 24 hours.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Education. For teaching in the graduate program, a terminal degree is required. For teaching in the undergraduate program, a graduate degree, such as an MBA or MS in the content area needed, is required.
- Teaching Experience. Some teaching experience is required, preferably five or more years. Some on line teaching of non-traditional students is also preferred. "Onboarding" training will be required of all SWU adjunct instructors.
- Course Information. Undergraduate and graduate courses vary from introductory to capstone courses. Each adjunct will be credentialed in courses based on their degree and experience.
- Technology. SWU is committed to maximizing the use of technology in its daily operations and in achieving its strategic goals. The ideal candidate will be comfortable and familiar with the use of technology within the academic environment including distance learning and learning management systems. The adjunct must have the technological capabilities to operate within the online environment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Mission and Lifestyle Expectations. The university is a Christian liberal arts institution in the Wesleyan-Holiness theological tradition. In light of SWU's unapologetically Christ-centered mission, all employees are expected to embrace the university's Statement of Faith, respect its Wesleyan heritage, and adhere to its lifestyle expectations.
- Physical/Environmental Requirements. Visual acuity necessary to do editorial work, proof documents, and manage files. Teaching in an online format requires the adjunct to be flexible, available and responsiveness to the needs of his/her online students.
- Pre-employment Screening. Employment is contingent on the completion a criminal background screening.
