Department Purpose

The Division of Arts & Sciences provides academic leadership across all departments to include classroom, hybrid, and remote instruction to ensures academic quality, consistency, support, and student success.

Summary
The AEA assist the Division Dean and Department Chairs to meet the needs of each department and/or program across all campuses and all teaching sites. The AEA coordinates instructional delivery, scheduling, enrollment monitoring, course staffing, instructor orientation, student advising, and teaching observations.

This position has been identified by Pueblo Community College as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Department of Education guidelines. As a Campus Security Authority, the incumbent in this position is required to report crimes that they become aware of to the Department of Public Safety at Pueblo Community College and must attend annual training related to these responsibilities.

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes 24-50-135, this position has been exempted from the State Personnel System.

 

Job Duties

Essential Functions

Operational Procedures


  • Maintains enrollment-management spreadsheets and reports.
  • Monitors current and future course schedules, enrollments and seat availability.
  • Works with the Dean, Chairs, and the PCC Scheduler to open new course sections and build, merge, or modify course sections when needed.
  • Contacts students to notify them of schedule changes.
  • Gathers instructional assignment from Department Chairs and enters into Banner in a timely fashion.
  • Observes the CCCS ’10-day Convenience Rule’ regarding prorate teaching assignments.
  • Collaborates with the Concurrent Enrollment (CE) Coordinator to modify and CE student registrations.
  • Produces data reports for the Dean.
  • Prepares course, instructor, and salary data for processing.
  • Liaises continually with branch campus leadership regarding A&S curriculum and instructional delivery.
Instructional and Curricular Support
  • Maintains all A&S Curriculum Maps and updates the Registrar with changes as needed.
  • Reviews and approves graduation planning forms and documentation for generic degrees.
  • Advises students in A&S programs throughout the year, logs advising notes and issues alerts as needed.
  • Works closely with Advisors, Coaches, and others to support students.
  • Connects students to the offices/recourses necessary for student success.
  • Serves as Super-User and trainer for EAB Navigate and the campus Learning Management System.
  • Takes part in Registration-promotion activities.
  • Assists the coordinator of AAA 109 (First Year Experience course) with instructor recruiting and orientation.
Part-Time Instructor Support
  • Collaborates with other AEA’s to support the design, preparation, and delivery of Instructor Orientations.
  • Provides scheduled and at-need training for Instructors on the use of Banner, D2L, EAB Navigate, and Cisco/WebEx.
  • Performs and documents regular classroom teaching observations of Instructors and provides feedback.
Program Support
  • Aids Department Chairs with special projects.
  • Designs and leads proactive, seasonal, enrollment outreach campaigns.
  • Attends College and Division meetings, notetaking and/or providing meeting operational support as needed.
  • Attends Colorado Online and Rural Consortium meetings; communicate and collaborate with Department Chairs to assign the necessary courses.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Experience:

  • Experience as an instructor at an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with academic advising, student support, and/or project management.
  • Experience with a learning management system.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Ellucian Banner, EAB Navigate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
