FULLTIME MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR (Skills Counselor) IN SPIRITED ADVENTURES & DAY TREATMENT PROGRAM, SHERBURNE COUNTY AREA WITH LOCATION IN PRINCETON, MN
Counselor $50k-$52k+ (DOE)
JOB ACTIVITIES:
- Co-facilitate group initiatives and activities, be familiar with curriculum and able to facilitate, assist with setup, cleanup, loading/unloading of equipment, gear maintenance, transporting of clients or equipment and trail to and from groups.
- Attend regular weekly/bi-weekly planning/debriefing meetings. Obtain and maintain required training. Follow all safety protocols and procedures of the program. Assist with necessary paperwork.
- Available for crisis calls.
- Documentation and Billable hours need to be completed in a timely manner.
- Full-time staff provide 109 client hours per month out of the 173 working hours available in a month (40 hours x 4.3 actual weeks per month).

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age or older to apply and a valid driver's license.
Counselor Level:
- High School Diploma with 4000 hours of working with children and families under the direct clinical supervision of a licensed mental health professional or;
- Bachelor's degree with 2000 hours of working with children and families under the direct supervision of a licensed mental health professional or;
- Bachelor's degree in behavioral health or related field and completed a practicum or internship that requires direct interaction with adults and children and is focused on behavioral sciences or related fields' or;
- Master's degree in human services related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated ability to work with children and families experiencing mental health issues in a direct care role.
- Familiar with a variety of counseling techniques with theories to aid in the care and treatment of individuals with mental health needs such as behavior modifications for children, child development education, communication, decision-making skills, anger management, social skills, leisure, self-esteem and basic home budgeting.
- Willingness to get trained and certified in technical skills as needed.
- Experience working with one or more of the following activities, hiking, kayaking/canoeing, survival skills, backpacking, canoe/kayak camping, snowshoeing or biking.
- At least two years of prior outdoor leadership experience.
