Adjunct Faculty - Business

Job Description

Western Wyoming Community College (Western) invites applications for adjunct in Business for Fall of 2024. This position will consist of teaching no more than 9 credits per Fall/Spring semesters and no more than 6 credits per Summer semester on the campus of Rock Springs, Wyoming, as well as from a distance via the institution’s learning management system (Canvas). Responsibilities will include supporting Western’s Guiding Principles: Learning is Our Purpose, Students are Our Focus, Employees are Our Most Important Resources, The Community is our Partner, Adapting to Change Defines Our Future, and Ethical Standards Guide Our Actions; and upholding the mission of a comprehensive 2-year community college.
Successful candidates will teach lower and upper division courses in the accredited undergraduate Business Department, as needed/assigned; teach in a variety of environments and modes: team-taught offerings, day offerings, evening offerings, online offerings, hybrid offerings, etc.; assess students in light of the institution goals, program goals, and course objectives; maintain appropriate scheduled office hours; develop good working relationships with discipline-related professionals in the College’s Service area; be active in one’s field of expertise.

It is expected that this individual will accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective, competent manner and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. This individual will follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Duties:
Teaching responsibilities may include but are not limited to: undergraduate courses in Business covering topics including but not limited to: Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Management, Business Administration, Decision Science and Economics. Other courses may be assigned to fit the successful candidate’s expertise and program demand as approved by the School Chair.
Additional responsibilities related to instruction are:
· Timely submission of course rosters, syllabi, and mid-term & final grades.
· Completion of required workshops, course assessment and evaluations as approved by School Chair.
· Submit program assessment data as required by the School Chair or the Department Facilitator.
· Commitment to respond to communications from Western faculty, staff and students in a timely manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Abilities)
1. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Business, Management, Marketing or a Master’s Degree in a related field., with 18 graduate credits in Business from an accredited institution (degree completion required by January 15, 2023).
2. Earned letter grade of “B” or higher in graduate courses relevant for positon.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of the concepts, technologies, principles and practices of a variety of business disciplines.
4. Relevant work experience, including, but not limited to, past experience in management, marketing, accounting, finance, banking and/or financial analysis.
5. Evidence of continued professional development.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and administrators.
7. Ability to exercise sound judgment in all facets of the student-teacher relationship and to teach a diverse group of community college students.
8. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

Equivalency Statement
For those who do not exactly meet all the minimum qualifications, an equivalent combination of education and experience, which has provided comparable knowledge and abilities, may be acceptable.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Abilities, Education and Experience)
1. Evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level substantiated by student evaluations and letters of recommendation.
2. Ability to collaborate with and complement faculty in the department, division, and college.
3. Active participation in relevant professional organizations.
4. Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas)
