NASBA President and CEO Position
NASBA, a 501(c)(6) non-profit located in Nashville, Tennessee is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Reporting to and working in close collaboration with the board of directors, NASBA’s next President and CEO will be a visionary, one who possesses strong financial and business acumen, executive decision-making abilities, dynamic public speaking skills, and has advanced knowledge of the accounting profession and the importance of accounting regulation. As the chief leader of the organization, the President and CEO will have the opportunity to drive NASBA’s mission and continue to foster NASBA’s corporate culture, both vital components of the Association’s relevancy, on national and international fronts.
Since 1908, NASBA has served as a forum for the nation’s 55 State Boards of Accountancy, which administer the Uniform CPA Examination, license more than 672,000 Certified Public Accountants and regulate the practice of public accountancy in the United States.
NASBA accomplishes its mission of enhancing the effectiveness and advancing the common interests of the Boards of Accountancy by creating innovative avenues for accounting regulators, educators and practitioners alike to address emerging issues relevant to the viability of the accounting profession. NASBA also makes available to member boards a rich portfolio of products and services – all designed to effectively aid Boards of Accountancy in their mission of ensuring public protection.
As an extension of NASBA’s core mission, the NASBA Center for the Public Trust (CPT) continues to provide a platform for corporate America, academia and the accounting profession to explore, promote and advance ethical behavior through business and leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies that will ensure the success of the organization’s mission and vision.
- Provide overall leadership to set the tone and operational policy of the organization.
- Oversee the organization’s fiscal management, including budgeting, financial planning, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Closely monitor all aspects of NASBA’s infrastructure, including prioritizing capacity and resources, as needed.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to State Board of Accountancy chairs and board members, CEOs of AICPA and Prometric, senior leaders at federal regulators with a nexus to the CPA profession, CEOs and chairs of major international institutes and regulators, firm CEOs and managing partners, and others, as needed.
- Research and be knowledgeable about any emerging and/or legislative issues impacting the accounting, economic and financial sectors.
- Consider and respond to the business risks that threaten the regulation of the profession and NASBA meeting its objectives.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in all areas of operation.
- Communicate on the accounting profession and state of NASBA as the chief spokesperson of the organization through public speaking and publications on key topics and issues affecting the accounting profession.
- Lead VP and C-Suite executives and provide directional oversight to directors and associate directors.
- Oversee human resources, ensuring the organization is adequately staffed to achieve business goals and ensure employee success.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree or CPA preferred
- Experience in executive leadership
- Strong strategic planning and execution skills
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical behavior and public protection
- Experience managing a diverse workforce and promoting an inclusive work environment
- Must be willing to relocate to the Nashville, Tennessee area
- Must be willing to be in the office 2-3 days a week (when not travelling)
- Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally
