POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: DONOR RELATIONS MANAGER

Grand Canyon Conservancy (GCC) is the official nonprofit partner of Grand Canyon National Park. As the official philanthropic and collaborative partner of Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon Conservancy’s mission is to inspire generations of park champions to cherish and support the natural and cultural wonder of the Grand Canyon. GCC raises private funds, operates retail shops within the park, and provides premier educational programs about the natural and cultural history of the region.

Grand Canyon Conservancy is currently seeking a Donor Relations Manager who will be a leader on the fundraising team, building on existing fundraising initiatives and proactively supporting the Chief Philanthropy Officer and other team members in the management of prospect and donor relationships, implementing stewardship strategies across the Philanthropy department. The ideal candidate is a skilled manager, communicator, and leader who is passionate about our mission and will represent Grand Canyon Conservancy to internal and external stakeholders with professionalism and integrity. The Donor Relations Manager’s role is to communicate donor impact at Grand Canyon Conservancy, delivering joy to our supporters.

The Donor Relations Manager is a remote (within a five-hour drive to the South Rim), benefit-eligible, full-time, exempt position that reports to the Chief Philanthropy Officer.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage various projects as assigned, anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision. Duties vary with the workload and may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the Philanthropy management team to review and develop stewardship strategy, goals, and implementation plans in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan and the Grand Goal.
  • Manage one or more philanthropy staff members.
  • Build and implement stewardship practices across the full spectrum of giving.
  • Proactively develop and implement stewardship processes in collaboration with philanthropy team leaders.
  • Develop custom stewardship plans for top donors and work with prospect managers to implement these plans to deepen existing relationships.
  • Facilitate delivery of acknowledgments and/or donor reports for high-level donors to deepen existing relationships.
  • Prepare stewardship collateral and correspondence for high-level Conservancy and Park philanthropy partners.
  • Work with the Philanthropy team to respond to donors’ questions and needs, prioritizing as necessary.
  • Review and rewrite standard gift acknowledgments annually.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Three to five years of experience in Philanthropy or customer service with a proven track record of excellent customer service
  • Bachelor’s Degree or at least five years equivalent experience in nonprofit management, philanthropy, or related field
  • Two to three years of experience and proficiency working with a database or CRM tool and related computer skills; experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • Exceptional people skills, including the ability to effectively connect with donors, community supporters, and team members.
  • Advanced knowledge, proficiency, or certification in Raiser’s Edge, Raisers Edge NXT.
  • Proven success in achieving fundraising goals.
  • Experience managing and/or supporting annual giving campaigns, solicitations and stewardship, donor recognition, donor databases, and special events.
  • Strong commitment to the ethical handling and management of donor information.
  • Ability to prioritize time independently to balance multiple tasks to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently in a hybrid or remote work environment.
  • Ability to develop and enhance strong communication standards and workflows while working to disseminate donor-focused content across multiple mediums.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills through both written and verbal communication.
  • Successful track record of working collaboratively and effectively with consultants and vendors.
  • Ability to cultivate trusting interpersonal relationships and connect with a variety of people.
  • Serve as a compelling storyteller through both written and verbal communication.
  • Committed to building and strengthening a culture of philanthropy and inclusion within and across teams.
  • Ability to promote and maintain a positive work environment while displaying GCC’s Core Values.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Performs approximately 70% of job duties in an office setting, working with a computer and colleagues.
  • Sit for long periods, up to four consecutive hours at a time.
  • Occasionally works outside on special assignments and travels to meet donors and vendors.
  • May occasionally work more than 40 hours per week or on weekends and holidays to meet critical deadlines and to attend special functions.
  • The ability to travel and work flexible hours where necessary is essential.

TOTAL COMPENSATION

GCC provides a comprehensive benefits package including vacation and holiday pay, sick leave, Canyon Experience Days, employer-supplemented health benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and health savings account (HSA) plan, employer-paid long-term disability, and life insurance, employer-paid 401(k) retirement plan, and discounts in our retail stores and Grand Canyon Conservancy Field Institute offerings. The hiring salary range for the position is $65,000 to $73,000 annually.
