Essential Job Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Install and finish dry wall
- Install ceiling systems, flooring, cabinetwork and counter top installations.
- Knowledge of renovation trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment is required.
- Understand materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety.
- Read and understand blueprints
- Function in at least one additional building or mechanical trade and possess general knowledge on multiple trades.
Other Responsibilities
- This position has been designated as essential personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule.
- This position may assist with snow and ice removal under the direction of a supervisor.
- Knows and functions in at least one other trade and possesses general knowledge of others. Assists other trades as required.
Minimum Experience/Education
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Optional Guidelines: Experience in the Trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Other Required Qualifications
- Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with supervisors and the general public.
- Understand verbal and written instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.
- Working knowledge of the standard practices and methods of the carpentry trade.
- The primary functions of the position require the ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds frequently and up to 90 pounds occasionally, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a university environment performing building renovations. This includes installing and finishing dry wall, ceiling systems, flooring, cabinetwork and counter top installations.
Required License or Certification
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to obtain a valid NC driver’s license within 60 days of hire and it must be maintained
