We are currently recruiting for an internship located at our office in San Diego, CA.
Role and responsibilities:
As a Operational Excellence Engineer Intern, you will work with the Operational Excellence & Quality Engineering teams to assist in the implementation of continuous improvement projects that support DUV manufacturing. This individual will work with electrical, mechanical, and optical assemblies in the production environment and help driving improvements within these groups. This position will also aid in the maintenance of work instructions and production, and/or quality data acquisition and analysis.
Supports Operational Excellence & Quality Engineering with project work.
Prepares, analyzes and reports factory metrics and other KPIs
Perform process time studies or process mapping.
Recommend and implement process improvements.
Participate as a member of cross-functional teams with an eye for Operational Excellence and Quality Engineering
Investigate problems and recommend/analyze possible solutions.
Prepare and deliver reports on work progress.
Perform other duties as assigned.
This will NOT be limited to a desk. Hands-on work in the factory will be required.

Education and Experience:
- Must be pursuing a degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Knowledge or experience in use of statistics for engineering applications.
- Familiar with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Quality Engineering, 5S, 8D, FMEA, and 5 Why's analysis.
- Familiarity with Bill of Materials (BOM) structures
- Ability to work in cleanroom manufacturing environment.
- Must be comfortable with a rapidly changing work environment.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
- Customer service focus
- Hands on, multitasking, priority setting and risk management.
- Team focused but individually accountable.
- Proficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs
- Experience or familiar with using statistical software (JMP, Minitab, other.)
- Knowledge of OE & QE
