Position Summary

Initial Base: Ayers

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

DUTIES:  

  • Makes repairs, and otherwise keeps buildings, equipment, and premises in an orderly condition; participates in these tasks daily.
  • Gives direction to maintenance personnel engaged in such duties as repair and/or replacement of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
  • Requisitions maintenance supplies, distributes supplies to personnel, and checks the use of supplies and equipment.
  • Reviews schedules to assure adequate coverage; revises schedules to meet changing conditions.
  • Collect, assemble and email accurate records of leave requests, timesheets, receipts, and invoices to Supervisor of Facilities Maintenance. 
  • Reviews maintenance activities and inspects work for effectiveness.
  • Reschedules work to carry out priorities as determined by the Supervisor of Facilities Maintenance. 
  • Reviews maintenance activities and sees that work is performed according to instructions.
  • Coordinates all maintenance activities with the Supervisor of Facilities Maintenance.
  • Holds regular meetings with maintenance personnel to discuss procedures for improving institutional maintenance.
  • Maintains records of supplies and materials.
  • Observes and complies with OSHA regulations.
  • Complies with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and lift.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in indoor conditions and regularly works near video displays. The noise level is mild to moderate.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two (2) years of Postsecondary education with a minimum of 15 semester hours in Industrial Maintenance Technology or a related field required
  • Appropriate license/certification in a maintenance area such as electricity, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, etc. required.
  • Three (3) years of experience in industrial maintenance area and leadership abilities and/or course work in management skills required.
  • Friendly personality; enthusiastic, positive attitude; evidence of trustworthiness and ethical conduct; effective human relations skills; strong work ethic.   

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and practice used in maintenance operations.
  • Working knowledge of the methods and equipment used in building maintenance.
  • Abilitytoassignandsuperviseamedium-sizedgroupofmaintenanceemployees,and to train and instruct employees.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to keep simple records and make reports.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with maintenance crews and management of the institution.
  • Sufficient physical strength to permit the performance of manual tasks; ability to lift 50 pounds from the ground; ability to lift arms above the head.
  • Ability to walk for extended periods of time; ability to walk up and down stairs and climb up and down ladders.

SALARY:
Salary Schedule E-2, Grade 03 - $45,220 – $62,710. Salary will be based on VERIFIED education and years of VERIFIED related experience that is stated on the initial job application only
