“Mechanisms of Hypertension and Cardiovascular Diseases” (Funding Source: NIH/NHLBI)

One postdoctoral fellowship is available immediately in the UAB Vascular Biology and Hypertension Program (Martin E. Young, PD/PI), funded by the NIH/NHLBI institutional training grant, T32 HL007457, “Mechanisms of Hypertension and Cardiovascular Diseases.” This T32 Training Program offers multidisciplinary training in fundamental aspects of the pathophysiology of hypertension and related cardiovascular disease, in innovative approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions and in translating basic and clinical research findings to the population level. The Program offers advanced training in the following thematic focus areas: Basic ScienceTranslational ScienceClinical Science and Population Science.

 

Eligibility and Expectations
Trainee candidate must be a United States citizen or permanent resident, must hold a doctoral degree (MD, MD/PhD, PhD or equivalent), have an interest in hypertension, related comorbidities or cardiovascular disease and should demonstrate a strong commitment to a research career. Fellowships are available for a one year appointment with expectation of renewal pending Program Director and Mentor(s) evaluation and recommendation. Trainee should have no more than three years of previous postdoctoral training to be eligible for appointment to this T32 HL007457 postdoctoral training grant. Stipend levels adhere to federal postdoctoral stipend guidelines and determined by number of full years of relevant postdoctoral experience.
