Under the direction of the Director of Political Field Operations the Associate Field Director will be responsible for directing the implementation of statewide direct voter contact, engagement, education and organizing campaigns.
 
Essential Functions:
Leadership:
  • Actively participates in management meetings.
  • Active thought partner in planning and creation of strategic initiatives within the PPAM team.
  • Responsible for program outcomes and goals of the PPAM strategic plan.
  • Responsible for supervising and managing Regional Community Organizers across the state.
  • Works interdepartmentally within PPMI to identify and coordinate cross-departmental outreach opportunities, including, but not limited to, work with Education and Youth, Development and Fundraising, and Health Center and Patient Advocacy.
  • Responsible for reporting regularly on field plan and organizing outcomes.
  • Works with Government Relations team to further cross-functional objectives
  • Maintains currency in current legislative and electoral news.
 
Field Management:
  • Under the direction of the Director of Political Field Operations the Associate Director, Field Organizing will be responsible for directing the implementation of statewide direct voter contact, engagement, education and organizing campaigns.
  • Aligns field organizing goals to PPAM’s strategic goals
  • Develops and implements metrics based system for defining field organizing goals and reporting outcomes
  • Assigns priorities for regional organizers
  • Oversees a team of professional level community organizers and their staff, volunteers, activists and supporters.
  • Responsible for directing activities of supporters, and volunteers, volunteer engagement groups, and activities that support awareness and advocacy campaigns, including, but not limited to, Legislative Action Teams, Volunteer Leadership Councils, coalition engagement and more.
  • Builds, implements and executes grassroots issue education campaigns that engage and mobilize priority communities for a large geographic region.
  • Responsible for building, implementing and executing electoral ground campaign activities in target districts to persuade voters and increase voter turnout – including large-scale paid and volunteer door-to-door canvassing programs and phone banking, managing teams of paid and volunteer canvassers, utilizing Voter Activation Network (VAN) technology, and managing turf, script writing, and electoral messaging.
 
Engagement and Outreach
  • Actively participates in identifying tabling, volunteer recruitment, public speaking, and other visibility opportunities and works with supervisor to prioritize those opportunities.
  • Establishes, maintains, and expands upon existing relationships and creates new alliances with state and local coalitions and allied organizations to strengthen visibility, credibility and mobilization efforts.
 

Other Responsibilities:
  • Maintains and applies up-to-date knowledge of political and legislative issues impacting the mission of the organization as well as effective political grassroots campaign tactics and methodologies.
  • Maintain relationships with PPFA and other vendors as it relates to the purview of the position.
  • Interpret program effectiveness and recommend changes to departmental policies and procedures where purposeful.
  • Reviews progress of assignments with PPAM senior management.
  • This position requires significant contact with the public and serves as the face of PPMI and PPAM in local communities.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
  • Advanced concepts, practices and procedures used in effective and efficient community outreach activities and organizing campaigns designed to engage target audiences and move them to action.
  • Advanced knowledge of political issues impacting the mission of the organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of sexual and reproductive health issues impacting the organization’s ability to further its mission.
  • Advanced knowledge of the reproductive justice framework.
 

Skills in:
  • Advanced Project Management.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications, including Microsoft Office, Google, VAN, Every Action, Asana, Zoom, and others.
  • Data gathering and analytic techniques.
  • Advanced Meeting facilitation and process management.
  • Advanced concepts, practices and procedures used in political campaigning and organizing.

  • Partner with other functional areas to accomplish objectives.
  • Facilitate meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are addressed.

Qualifications and Experience
Five to seven years of relevant experience in Community or Field Organizing, Political Science, Social Justice and/or Community Engagement work, or related fields
OR
Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by hiring decision makers.

$70,000 - $70,000 a year
