Chief Executive Officer
The Dr. Piper Center is a 501c3 not-for-profit agency that has been serving the community for nearly 50 years and is a trusted resource for senior citizens living in Southwest Florida. Our programs are unique because we are the only agency locally that focuses on helping low-income seniors to become economically self-sufficient by providing them with stipend volunteer opportunities while also making a positive impact in the lives of frail elderly, at risk youth, and special needs children.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the Dr. Piper Center to include managing the financials, staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission.
Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Leadership & Management:
· Provide dynamic and collaborative leadership for the agency’s mission, strategy, core program areas, and operating departments consistent with the strategic plan. Recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals.
· Oversee all operational aspects of the Center’s facilities, budget, and programs to include development and implementation of agency Policies and Procedures.
·Actively engage and energize the DPC volunteers, board members, event committees, partnering organizations, and funders.
· Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors and serve as ex-officio of each committee.
· Lead, coach, develop, and retain DPC management team.
· Ensure effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.
· Preserve and cultivate a culture of mutual respect, individual initiative, and diversity.
Budget and Fundraising:
· Develop and deliver required budgeting and financial reporting for the Center’s annual operating budget.
· Research and complete federal, state, county, and local grant applications, create budgets for grant proposals, and have knowledge of regulations pertaining to grants.
· Monitor federal, state, county, and local grants for compliance, prepare monthly requests for payment, and complete progress and annual reports.
· With the assistance of the Board of Directors, create and implement a fundraising plan that cultivates and maintains relationships with current donors while identifying and expanding new, innovative funding sources to support existing program operations and regional expansion.
· Deepen and refine all aspects of communications from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
· Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities.
Marketing and Community Outreach:
· Work with the staff, the Board of Directors, volunteers, and constituents to develop and implement a marketing and promotions plan for the Center’s programs and events.
· Develop and deliver effective oral and written presentations and be available to serve as the agency’s spokesperson with the media.
Qualifications
The CEO will be thoroughly committed to DPC’s mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.
Specific requirements include:
· Advanced degree, ideally an MBA, with at least 5 years of non-profit management, board development and engagement, grant writing/administration, fundraising, and public relations.
· Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.
· Excellence in organizational management with the ability to manage and develop high-performance staff, establish and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.
· Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
· Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
· Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
Compensation: Competitive and will be commensurate with experience ($80-$100k)
