Job Summary and Qualifications
The President serves as the College’s chief executive and administrative officer and provides vision and leadership that enhances the College’s tradition of excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship. The President reports directly to the Governing Board of the College, and also has a reporting relationship with the CEO of Research Medical Center. The President bears full responsibility for implementing Board decisions and policies, strategic and program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programming consistent with the Board’s strategic priorities, program administration and management, and community engagement.
Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Creates a climate of transparency, trust, accessibility, and inclusion
- Provides leadership to all constituents of the College
- Promotes the College, its mission, vision, and values to the community at large
- Navigates the unique structure and governance of a special focus institution of higher learning to access fiscal, human, and physical resources
- Represents the College on appropriate boards and task forces at the local, regional, and national level
- Builds strong alliances among healthcare organizations and institutions of higher learning to address nursing and higher education challenges
- Creates a culture which is responsive and nimble to multiple and opposing perspectives, innovative and effective, and results-oriented to create financial viability and long-term sustainability
Strategic Planning and Organizational Development
- Works directly with the board to provide broad strategic direction, long-term goals, structure, and annual objectives for the College.
- Seeks and identifies strategic opportunities and partnerships for enhancing the viability of the college and its mission and vision.
- Uses data and analytics to access data about market share, discount rate, demographic forecasts, employment demand, and population shifts and to inform decision making, e.g. enrollment strategies.
- Maintains a competent and productive staff, fostering teamwork around the college’s mission, vision, and values.
- Develops and reviews annual goals and objectives for direct reports.
- Oversees the recruitment, hiring, and development of faculty and staff.
- Conducts regular performance reviews of all direct reports.
- Prepares and revises personnel policies and procedures as required.
Board Relations
- Partners with the board in developing and sustaining the mission and vision as established by the College.
- Maintains relationships with the Governing Board and its working committees.
Finance
- Develops the college budget in conjunction with the CFO and Comptroller of Research Medical Center to support current educational programs and to seek resources to support new and emerging initiatives.
- Maintains accountability for administering financial policies, procedures, and budget.
Policies, Procedures, and Compliance
- Establishes sound procedures to carry out the policies, by-laws, mission, vision, and the strategic direction of the college.
- Maintains positive relationships with accrediting and other governmental and/or public entities that have an impact on approval, development, and delivery of instructional student programs/services.
Advocacy and Communication
- Serves as the chief spokesperson for the College, effectively articulating and communicating the vision and mission of the College throughout the community.
- Support and advocate for all students, faculty, and staff while ensuring that all constituents both enhance and improve their knowledge to optimize the College’s service to its constituents.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in nursing, healthcare, or education from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Graduate degree in nursing or health care related field; one of the degrees (PhD, EdD, or master’s degree) must be in nursing.
- Background of high-level administrative experience with at least ten years of progressive academic experience in program administration and teaching in institutions of higher education.
- Experience in interpreting college needs, programs, and activities to faculty, staff, community, employers, organizations and agencies.
- Understanding of the mission, role, and governance structure of special focus four-year nursing programs.
- Eligible to be licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Missouri
