Job Description
Since 1961, The Association for Individual Development (AID) has served individuals with developmental, intellectual, physical and/or mental health challenges, those who have suffered a trauma, and those at risk. We are looking for a Director– Human Resources who exemplifies that mission, and who wants to work for an organization that makes a difference. Are you the right fit?
What will you be doing?
- Promote the Mission and Vision of AID by exhibiting professional and ethical work practices
- Facilitate the planning and coordination of the efforts of the HR & Staff Training department and all HR-related activities to ensure the appropriate utilization of resources to meet individual and organizational needs
- Provide services to other departments in accordance with overall organizational strategic goals and priorities by performing the following:
- Develop & align HR budget with department and organizational strategic goals; monitor to ensure the best possible financial and operational outcomes
- Provide leadership support to the HR and Staff Training staff
- Direct over site of HR and Staff Training programs and activities
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations
- Participate and contribute to the strategic planning process and assume the accountability for HR’s role in facilitating successful outcomes
- Provide counsel and make recommendations to organizational structure and development plans (i.e. succession plans; talent retention/coaching, etc.) to ensure continuous high performance mission-driven leadership
- Participate in the development of formal Staff & Leadership Development Programs to ensure key competencies are identified and learning opportunities are provided as part of the continuous efforts talent management and on-going retention of employees
What will you bring to the table?
- Master’s degree in Human Resources management or related Human Resources field
- HRCI and/or SHRM Certified Professional in Human Resources required
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources required
- Two (2) years’ experience in supervisory/management capacity required
- Prior payroll and benefits management experience preferred

- Knowledge of State, Federal and AID regulations/rules/policies and procedure.
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Use of employee personal automobile
- Automobile liability insurance sufficient to meet minimum requirements as defined in AID personnel policies
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common function inquiries or complaints. Ability to effectively present information.
- Demonstrate knowledge, values, skills and attributes to work appropriately in cross-cultural situations
- Communicate effectively to facilitate interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds
